Manager Craig Brewster made one change to the side that trounced Gretna 6-1 last weekend for the visit to the Falkirk Stadium today with Michael Fraser replacing Zibi Malkowski in goals. Missing out through injury were Captain Grant Munro, Phil McGuire and Markus Paatelainen.
We missed a great opportunity to take the lead in only four minutes when a through ball from midfield released Barry Wilson in behind the Falkirk defence, he skipped round the goalkeeper but despite the open goal he fired over from a tight angle.
Ten minutes later it was Falkirk's turn to miss a good chance, Pedro Moutinho picked up the ball deep and showed good skill nipping past three players before dinking a ball through to striker Michael Higdon but with the goal gaping his shot slipped past the post from six yards.
On the 18th minute Falkirk again broke towards our goal when Pedro Moutinho robbed David Proctor and drove towards goal went past Michael Fraser in the box but Richard Hastings was on hand to nip in and clear the ball away for a throw in.
Falkirk took the lead in the 28th minute when an inswinging corner from Pedro Moutinho was flicked on at the near post but not cleared by the defence, towards the back post and Michael Higdon slide the ball into the net.
Six minutes before the break some good play involving some ten passes with the ball being moved left to right eventually resulted in a shooting opportunity for Don Cowie but his side footed effort from 20 yards was parried by Shane Supple in the Falkirk goal.
Half time score: Falkirk 1 (Higdon 28 mins) - ICT 0
Midfielder Russell Duncan replaced Ian Black at the half time interval in the centre of the park.
We came close to netting the equaliser in the 56th minute when a great left footed cross by Barry Wilson was met in the box by Rory McAllister but his glancing header went wide of goal and a good opportunity was missed.
Again we put pressure on the Falkirk goal and ten minutes later good build up produced another shot on goal when Ross Tokely on the overlap dug out a great cross to the back post and left back Roy McBain came steaming in but failed to catch his effort properly and it went into the side netting.
A sucker punch was to follow one minute later when Falkirk extended their lead against the run of play, substitute Russell Latapy picked up the ball deep and threaded the ball into the left channel for Pedro Moutinho and he had time to pick out Carl Finnigan on the right to lash the ball high into the net from just inside the box.
Manager Craig Brewster made his second substitute of the afternoon when he took on Graham Bayne for Rory McAllister in the 70th minute.
David Proctor was booked in the 78th minute by referee David Somers for a foul on Falkirk goalscorer Michael Higdon. Within the minute Iain Vigurs replaced Marius Niculae.
Five minutes before the end we were unlucky not to pull a goal back when an Iain Vigurs corner from the left was headed onto the post by Ross Tokely in an almost carbon copy of last week's 5th goal against Gretna.
There was a booking for substitute Graham Bayne for a foul on Tam Scobbie and that led to Don Cowie also receiving one for talking out of turn in the 88th minute.
We were awarded a penalty in the second minute of injury time when full back Scobbie clipped Barry Wilson's heels in the box and Barry coolly rolled the ball into the net to make it 2-1.
